Okay not strictly a movie today, death note is an anime, in turn based on a Japanese manga book. The books are paperback cartoons, i say cartoons because its the best way to describe it to make it understandable, read back to front as is the japanse way.
The story revolves around a book, the ‘death note’ of the title, in which you write a name and that person dies. It all turns into the obvious battle of good versus evil, but throws in plenty of twists, some excellent characters and a great ending. What makes this so good is that the anime is almost, if not, entirely faithful to the original manga. The live actions films also based on the manga have suffered from a condensed and altered story to make them fit the movie length.
If you love a good story and don’t mind watching anime, buy it or rent it, it’s excellent.
