I was reading an interesting post over at ‘Editing Luke‘ about youtube and how hard it is for people to get their work noticed on there.

Its something I’ve long been thinking, wondering if perhaps the Internet, while it will always remain the largest free source of creativity and outlets for creativity, but perhaps we will find some of our other options limited. Google has long been the no1 browser of choice, but look at eBay these days, more and more high street retailers and even other Internet retailers now have eBay shops. EBay, which started out as an auction site for people to sell their junk will one day become just one big shopping mall for all the other shops and the small users who sell their junk will be eBay’s small niche customer, becoming Amazon Mk II, Amazon who themselves have moved in on eBay’s market with their own shops for people to sell stuff.

I don’t know if figures exist but I’d bet good money Facebook has overtaken Myspace in the ‘social networking’ popularity stakes and will very likely one day be the social networking site. All of which raises the question have we witnessed the evolution of the Internet, has it grown into adulthood or is their more yet to come?

Okay those who read my earlier post will remember I was a little disappointed with ebay because you can’t seem to list a DVD for sale and charge postage, so on a 99p auction you pay a final value fee, plus the cost of posting and if it sells at 99p you will make nothing.

So instead I have found another solution www.musicmagpie.com all you do is enter the barcodes from your DVD/CD/Game and they give you a value, you send it to them they pay you. Nice and easy and since most of the DVD’s I want to get rid of will get at least 30p minimum and some a pound or more it’s probably going to work out a better deal than ebay, mostly because I just post off one box.

So if you like in the UK and fancy having a clearout try these guys.

As anyone who has read enough of my posts will know, I want to move away from where I am now. A long way, all the way to America, but to do that costs money. 1) Because I have debts that have to be paid here and 2) Because I need somewhere to live when I get there since contrary to popular believe you can’t just fly over and instantly get a house and a job.

So short of a rich benefactor giving me the money to start my new life I am going to have to get it myself. If any rich benefactors are reading and want to help me I would be eternally grateful.

So I have a few ideas for making some money, not big earners but every little helps right? One of these being to sell all the things I no longer use or need on Ebay. Great I registered an account, I registered a Paypal account too I’m cooking on gas and ready to go. List my first item, an old DVD which I only watched once, 99p auction … but how much for postage. That’s when I find out ebay now insists that certain items, including DVD’s have free postage … and there it is if i sell it for 99p after my listing fee and P&P I’ll make pennies.

I know I said every little helps but it is kind of demoralising to get started this way.  But I shall persist, I shall continue and I shall keep trying and hopefully some nice people on ebay will be generous with there bids.
