A friend of mine just pointed out that I haven’t posted anything for a while, my excuse, and it’s a bit crappy but here it is. In summer my room gets really really hot and I get really really lazy, I also find it hard to really think about anything, maybe my brain is melting.
I did have to wonder yesterday though, why the hell are there so many of these annoying kiddie band films being released, first it was High School Music, 1, 2, 3 and I think their on the 50th now or something, and now we have Bandslam, are kids really watching these films?
Oh and I saw a blog post the other day with the new Lightcycle from the Tron sequel that’s in production, that and the Daft Punk music they’re using actually raised my interest in this film.
Am I the only one becoming concerned by all the Hollywood remakes these days. It’s almost as if they are running out of stories and in order to keep making movies they are having to remake all the old ones. Don’t get me wrong I know new films are coming out, and I know not all the remakes are bad ones, but c’mon, do we really need a remake of short circuit?
The other word doing the rounds these days is ‘reboot’ which apparently is different to a remake in … well in some way.
That said though I must admit I am looking forward to the Highlander remake that’s in production at the moment.
I’m a generally easy going kinda guy, but some things do annoy me. Today it’s DVDs, for three reasons.
1) I hate buying a DVD, only for a newer better version to come out along with the sequel, yes I’m looking at you comic book movies, actions movies, and too many other damn movies. I want the ‘Special Edition’ when the first DVD comes out and i want it to stay ‘special’ not be replaced 6 months later because you think we are all made of money.
2) A minor one this, I buy my DVDs generally in UK high street shops, I can understand why I have to choose a language, I just don’t understand why English has to be the last choice, so I have to flick through three pages to get to it.
3) Why do I have to sit through an anti-piracy advert on a DVD I have bought and paid for. I’m no expert in piracy but I’m pretty sure they take out those ads when they copy a DVD. To make it worse the ad has highly annoying music and states ‘you wouldn’t steal a car’, ‘you wouldn’t steal a handbag’, ‘You wouldn’t steal a mobile phone’ and ‘you wouldn’t steal a movie’. No I didn’t steal it I paid for it, so get the damn ad off my screen.
Okay I’m sat here watching ‘Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation‘. I remember the original movie with Tom Hanks, back when he was just the guy who did the funny movies, it was a great movie, it still is, watch it, I recommend it. What I don’t understand is why they feel the need to make a new film many years after the original and title it like a sequal with apparently the only link to the first film being the setting of a bachelor party. It has some good actors in it, I’m sure it’s not a bad movie, I just wish they hadn’t tried to score some cheap points with the name.
*UPDATE* Okay the film isn’t terrible and despite following pretty much the same storyline as the original it’s still worth watching, 4/5 from me, it would have been 3/5 but it has Emmanuelle Vaugier in her underwear.
Okay I sat down last night to watch Role Models, according to the dvd box a ‘Laugh-out loud’ comedy, starring Sean William Scott, Paul Rudd and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
I have to admit I actually really enjoyed this film and did find myself laughing at a lot of the better jokes. Paul Rudd is always excellent and this is no exception and Sean William Scott provides a lot of the funnier moments.
If you’re looking for something that’s both funny and enjoyable you could do a lot worse than to pick this up.
